A legitimate question is: How can so many sincerely "in love" couples, many with deeply religious backgrounds, begin their marriage journey with a commitment to faithfully "cleave" to one another (Genesis 2:24), but 4 or 5 years later feel more like taking a cleaver to one another?! In the majority of cases, they have either never been taught HOW to build and guard a Christ-centered marriage, or they have not yet developed the necessary skills in APPLYING that which they learned.
Good marriages don't "just happen". Neither do broken marriages. Things go right in a marriage when the right things are known and put into practice. Things go wrong in a marriage when the wrong things are in practice. And even the most wonderful, God-fearing, committed couple can be hit by hurricane force winds that knock them off course or totally capsize them.
In providing Christian Marriage Counseling, our commitment is to 1) help couples identify areas of need or vulnerability in their marriage, 2) provide the biblical instruction on HOW to grow strong in those areas, and 3) assist couples in the day-to-day application of that knowledge so they can experience Christ centered strength and withstand any storm that comes their way - regardless of whether that storm involves communication, money, sex, infidelity, family, or all of the above.
